Who is covered:

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) oversees compliance by employers in the aerospace industry. From large corporations to smaller companies, adherence to the Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workforce for NASA Program is critical to ensure the continued safety of space flight. Therefore, all persons performing safety-sensitive functions on covered NASA contracts in the Aeronautics and Space industry need to be trained. Safety-sensitive functions include:

• an employee who has been granted access to classified information
• employees in other positions that the Company determines could reasonably be expected to affect national security, health or safety
• functions other than the above requiring a high degree of trust and confidence
• all employees performing in a position designated by NASA as “mission critical”
• Supervisors of employees working in a sensitive position may also be required to complete this training, whether or not the supervisor is in a sensitive position
